Paper Crafting, Rubber Stamping, Scrapbooking, and more

Hello! I need some advice. I will be taking on a big project; I want to create 9, 12x12 scrapbooks for a family, one for each child and one for the parents. My question is, to save time, should I make all of the scrapbooks fairly similar, using similar LO's with different papers and embellishments or should I make each one unique and different? What would you prefer if it were your family receiving them?

Hope the question makes sense! Thanks in advance!!

Wow, that's ambitious!  Are you doing them as traditional books or digital or hybrids?  Are all the people in the same house?  I think your time frame should influence you decision about how similar the books will be.  You can keep similar layouts and rotate them.

Thanks for the response. :0) Yep, they all live in the same house, the oldest child is 17 down to 3. I would like to get them done and sent by about the 10th of August which means I would need to get about 3 LO's done per day until then. I've got all the supplies I should need and loads of sketches and ideas. I want to get this done efficiently but yet each one have it's own personality and qualities, I don't want them to all just be cookie cutter LO's...not sure if this is making sense. lol They will be traditional with maybe some hybrid aspects, I have tons of digital kits that are too cute to pass up so I may print some things up if it doesn't complicate the process.

Thanks again!! :0)

Wow, what a wonderful gift for them. I would suggest making the first page or cover unique to each child, then you could use the same type of lay out for all the other pages. :)

I think each will be special and unique even if you use the same layouts and photos. Don't be afraid to make them similar. You are under taking such a wonderful loving project, you are to be comended. I would find it hard to make the books exactly alike. I tend to change things up a little, move the title from horizontal to vertical, etc. But such a labor of love is going to blow them away. They will be so overwhelmed by the generosity of your time and talent that they will not fuss over the similarities. I would definitely use the same layouts and materials just so it is easier on your brain and pocketbook!!

Thank you so much! I am nearly halfway into the project and it has taken on a personality of it's own, not at all what I expected. I have used some sketches, some more than once, but I have found that once I get going they don't usually end up looking anything like the sketch. I am so pleased about that! And I really think you're right, once they get them I doubt they will compare to the extent of saying there were too many that were similar. :0) I am so excited to get it done and shipped out. I have been in a rut lately and am about 15 LO's behind in my schedule date of August 1st... :0( But hopefully I will get back in the groove and pick up speed. Thanks again for your comments, so very appreciated!
You are doing a great job!  Your family is lucky to have someone who is doing this for them.  When I get in a scrapbooking rut, I check out web sites and scrapbook stores for ideas.  I also look up scrapbook challenges or use advertisements for ideas(color combinations, sayings...)  Attending a class or workshop also helps. Just for the fun of it, I challenge you to use 3 supplies that you bought at least 2 years ago and 1 piece of lace!  Have fun!
