Paper Crafting, Rubber Stamping, Scrapbooking, and more

Hi there!

I just got a couple packages of Martha Stewart glitter, but I'm not sure of the best ways to use it. I put it on some liquid applique last night and it looked nice, but the glitter really stuck to my cardstock where it wasn't suppose to. Does anyone have any fun, foolproof ways to use glitter successfully?

Thanks!
Angie

oh i would love to learn those tricks. i have some of her glittler, have used the xyron and its worked okay, but not that great. i need more ideas too.
I used Stampin' Ups "heat and stick" powder on my snowman card and on this accent for a scrapbook layout. I've got the contact info for my Stampin' Up rep on my blog and it's Sale-A-Bration so there are free stamps, paper, or ribbon if you order totals $50. I just placed an order with her yesterday :)

It's like an embossing powder. First apply Versamark (so you can stamp or apply over an entire area), then I sprinkle the "heat and stick" powder, shake it off, and heat set just it until tacky--not too much or it loses it's tackiness. Then apply your glitter, shake, off, and lightly with the heat for a couple of seconds (this just seems to help it stick even better). I love this product! I've have also used double sided adhesive tape, but I far prefer the "heat and stick" powder since you can actually stamp an image and glitter it--it's great.

Hope this helps.
I bought some MS glitter for the holidays and used a glue pad (like an ink pad only with glue instead of ink) and stamped my image, then used the glitter like embossing powder. Here is a card I did using a flourished image and red glitter.

I never saw a glue pad. Can these be found in your typical box craft stores?
Hello,

Use glitter with bit of creativity and give a new and refreshing look to your handmade paper products be it your hand bag, or your wall hanging. Glitters are too good, i just love using them on my little stuffs.

I'm a newbie here, so forgive me if I break any forum rules. I always use a dryer sheet on my card stock before stamping; it reduces the static which attracts the glitter (and embossing powder) onto unwanted surfaces. Also, did you put the glitter on the liquid applique before or after you puffed up the LA? I think it adheres better if you put it on before heating, but it's been ages since I used the two products together, so I may be misremembering. Also, a tacky glue, applied in a thin line or painted over a surface works well with glitter. And then there is the Art Institute brands of adhesive especially for glittering...comes in formulas for fabric, dries clear and dries opaque. They sell these great metal tips which go right on the bottle for applying in really thin lines, or tight little areas.

Also, if you just want a glitter line or small embellishment, the red liner double stick tape is wonderful.

PS...I love glitter. Use it all the time. It's an addiction.
I've used the glue pads too and they seem to work pretty well!
I use a glue pen by Sakura. There are other brands, but this one works best for me when I want to get fine detail. If you let the glue dry until it's tacky, and then dip your finger in the glitter, you can just rub the glitter wherever you want it to go. There is less mess and waste that way. Clean-up is also easier. Have fun!
Ditto on the Quickie Glue Pen by Sakura.

This is an excellent glue pad

I haven't tried this glue pen but I have found some glue that is made from use with glitter. I'm a Guest Designer at Artglitter.com and the "designer adhesive" is perfect. They also have a writing tip for detailed control of your glue. If you'd like to check them out, go HERE
I could use some glitter advice too. I have a glue pen from SU, but somehow the glue doesn't go down to the tip no matter what I do with it - so I got frustrated, put the glitter away and used Stickles again...maybe I need a different brand of glue pen?!
Try the Sakura Quickie Glue Pen. You'll never go back to any other brand.
