Challenges??

Ok, can someone give me the rundown on Challenges? Can anyone enter and can anyone post one? How do they work, in general....? thanks!

Hi Stephanie!

There are tons of challenges out there and, to my knowledge, anyone can participate as long as you follow their guidelines. Many challenges have sponsors and you have a chance to win a prize, many offer a blog badge for bragging rights :), and some are just for fun and to stretch your skills.

Color challenges want you to use the color scheme they've provided for you with as little deviation as possible.

Inspiration challenges are typically a photo of something used as inspiration in making your project. You can use the color scheme, the scene itself or the overall feeling you get from the picture as a guide.

Sketch challenges are my favorite because the layout is taken care of for you and that is often the hardest part when making a card. You can follow the sketch exactly or you can use it as a guide.

You will also come across challenges that require you use a certain element (like buttons, lace, etc.), 3D (like boxes,etc.) and altered items (like decorating an item you purchased, etc.). I've been seeing some CASE challenges lately where you will create a project based on someone's elses work.

Many challenges don't mind if you combine their challenge with others but some do, so just read their guidelines for playing and you'll be fine.

On all challenges, you provide a link to your challenge entry and if you don't have a blog,that could be a challenge and easy to remedy by starting a blog--blogger offers free blogs that are easy to set up and get started. If you don't have a blog and don't want to start one, you can always post your challenge entries right here on Papercraft Planet.

I was also wondering about this! I would like to join a challenge but I don't know where to begin or where to look. I feel silly just jumping into a group that is already formed and I'm the newbie. lol Any suggestions?
