Paper Crafting, Rubber Stamping, Scrapbooking, and more

Hi! I'm Tim with Hambo Stamps. Just wanted to post some coloring techniques. I've seen questions about coloring and I wanted to throw this into the mix.

When I do images that have large areas to cover I will sometimes use Derwent Inktense Pencils. I'm not good enough with a brush to do fine detail so I just put in large areas of color then go over it with Prismacolor Pencils. The Inktense colors are... as the name implies.. intense! They make the images pop in my opinion. They're just another option out there. The initial cost for a set of 24 is around $30 but they will last a long time.

You can either draw on the paper then use a wet brush or blender or just wet the tip and paint it on with the brush. I've seen people break off a bit of the tip and put it in a small vial of water and let it soak for a uniform intense wash.

Here's a pic of our latest digital images using these pencils. Like I said Prisma's are used for tighter detail. Hope this helps someone or stirs up some creative juices!

Thanks for looking and happy coloring!

Tim

Thanks for the tips, Tim. I've used watercolor pencils, but you're right, these are more intense and would give me a different look.
You're welcome Debbie! I'm coloring a prehistoric scene now with volcanoes and it almost glows.. lol. I'll probably post it Friday.
I hasve started using these pencils about a month ago after i had a go with my Mother in Laws. I absolutley love them . it takes me back to my childhood all over again because it's liek the old magic painting books we used to get.

They are really internse but I have found you can soften the colour depending how much of the pigment you put on also they blend wonderfully too.

Thnaks for Sharing Timbo :)
Thanks! You can also soften them by just going over them with colored pencils!
Wow, they have great color, I am definitely going to check them out. Thanks for letting us know.
You're welcome!
