Paper Crafting, Rubber Stamping, Scrapbooking, and more

Hi,

I love the look of edged cards and papers, particularly with Distress Inks, and especially with a sharp edge just on the sides of the card, but I'm struggling to add inked edges to curved shapes.  In particular lace borders and nestabilities.  I currently try to add the ink by applying the pad direct to the paper or card edge using the pad, but because the pad is square it doesn't do small curves very well.  Does anyone have any tips for getting this right?  I'm not talking about the general colouring with the distressing tool, but just the very edge of the shape.  Any help would be gratefully received.

Hi, I also like to edge my shapes with ink and for this

I use the dew drop shaped ink pads, which are easier

to use for this purpose.  You could also cut out a piece

of sponge this shape and take it to the ink before

going around the edges.  Hope this helps.

For fiddly shapes I generally use a sponge...dab the sponge to the inkpad and then apply to shape. You can adjust the size of sponge to suit the shape but it is also just that little bit more pliable to fit into gaps. Hope this helps. There are a few companies that sell craft sponges...the ones I use come in a large circular piece that you can then cut into whatever size you like.
I generally use my copics brush tip to do this with, but I also use the dewdrop or eye shaped inks as well.
I use makeup wedges because they are cheap and they have a very fine point on one end.  Good luck!

I too use a sponge or more often a dauber to ink the edges.
