If you have one of these, or even a Scor-Pal - do you use it only for card stock? I bought one and was slightly disappointed that I can't score regular paper with it or it rips it to shreds.

Wanda I had bought one and returned it because I was so disappointed....then I saw on someone's blog that they used a stylus instead of the tool that came with it....so back I went and bought another one and it works great that way but I don't think I will ever like it as much as my Scor-It.

Hope that helps! Robyn

I have a stylus...actually I have a set of three different sizes...I will try scoring regular paper with that and see how it turns out. Thanks a bunch!
Your welcome!
I like the Martha Stewart one better than the ScorPal but I found that if I just use my bone folder I get a really good crease with no tearing or ripping.  The one that comes with it is just too sharp.  Sometimes I press down to hard and it tears it so I have to watch that.  Can't beat it for the price and with a coupon for 40% off at Micheals or Hobby Lobby it is a great tool to own.
Yes, I use a stylus with it too and get great results.  The tool that comes with it isn't very useful.
I've had the same issue but I still love the board. I guess it's all I know because it's the only one I've ever had. But I learned to just press lighter and go over it two or three times. I also noticed the angle at which I score helps reduce tearing.
Thanks Dawn...I will try to watch my angles and press lighter and see how that goes.

I have Fiskas rotary cutter that rides on a rail .I found out that if I use a plastic comb and use the rail for a straight edge lookout it will make an awesome score . I have not been able to find fiskas scoring blades but I understand they work great .

If your still having problems scoring regular paper, you might try adding a couple of scrap pieces to make it a little more sturdy while you score.
Thanks everyone, for all the cool tips. I bought a 3 piece stylus set and use the large balled end to score paper with and that works really good with my heavier handedness. I use it for both paper and card stock.

I have no problem, I love the board.

I love MS Scoring board! I don't use thin paper on it anyway...but it works if you apply less pressure.

I love that you can make envelopes and boxes with it and it doesn't have a pre-established size like the Scor Pal.
