Do you guys have a family blog? Like one where you journal about the goings-on of your daily life? Or do you ever post photos and stories about your family on your crafting blog or other social website like Facebook or Myspace? I've been keeping a family blog,
Tapler Ohana, for a few years now that serves as a central site that our family and friends on the Mainland can go for regular updates and photos (mostly of Dean I'll admit) without me feeling guilty about not sending out regular individual e-mails or making phone call after phone call to share this information. So yeah, maybe I've been sucked into this current digital state we're in - lacking in personal communication - but the family, especially the faraway grandparents and great-grandparents LOVE it!! And that blog has helped out TREMENDOUSLY when it comes time to journal on my scrapbook layouts. In fact, a few days ago during my blog surfing I came across
THIS POST by one of my favorite bloggers, Cathy Zielske, and a lightbulb went off (you'll see why if you read her post).
I decided to use her "Blog Grab" inspired template as inspiration for this week's Scrappy Sunday sketch, although I did make a few changes - including rotating it 90 degrees. If you're a digi scrapper, you can purchase Cathy's template
HERE at Designer Digitals. And while there, be sure to check out her other great products - she's pretty amazing!!
So here's a look at this week's sketch:

The basic idea this week is to keep your layout simple and to use lots of photos - you don't have to lay them out exactly like the sketch - just use multiple photos of varying sizes (let's say try to use a minimum of 4 photos, OK?) and use them at the top of your layout, then include lots of journaling to really tell the story at the bottom of the layout. You can add embellishments of course, but really try to keep the focus on the photos and the story this week. That is the real reason we all scrapbook, right? :-)
If you play along, be sure to use the tag sb111509 (all lower case) so we can find your layouts to pull into the gallery! And remember, all forms of scrapbooking - traditional, digi and hybrid are welcome!! As always, feel free to flip or rotate the sketch or add or remove layers as needed, just as long as the original layout design is recognizable!!
OK, here's a peek at my sample:

Supplies:
Template No. 7 by Cathy Zielske (Designer Digitals); Digi papers are from Remember Me kit by Sarah Bennett.
Bonus points if you actually use journaling captured from a blog post (be sure to include a link to the blog post!!).
HERE is the blog post from the Tapler Ohana blog where I grabbed the photos and journaling for this layout - I literally had this page completed, start to finish, in under 15 minutes!! (LOVE that!). I'll be using this template and blog capture technique multiple times in the future!!
