Paper Craft Planet

Paper Crafting, Rubber Stamping, Scrapbooking, and more

Good Morning --
I have always loved all the stitching people do on their cards.
How do you do this? What kind of sewing machine do you have?
I would love to get one, but I'm "technically challenged" and I would need something that is verrrry EASY to use...

I would only be using the machine to stitch on paper -- so I wouldn't need anything real fancy.

Any info would be appreciated -- Thanks so much! :)
Have a FABULOUS day!!!

Faux stitching looks great too & it's easy, cheap, take anywhere! Either poke holes with a large needle or piercing tool & join the dots (or every 2nd) with your white gel pen. Hey presto, looks like sewing! Also the tracing wheel your Grandma probably has stashed in her sewing box works great too- using a metal ruler, wheel along cardstock using firm pressure, then without moving the ruler, go over your wheeled line with your gel pen. Make sense? Happy faux sewing!!
What a GREAT idea! I hadn't thought about using that tracing wheel, I think I have one of those somewhere in my sewing stuff. I'm going to try this. I think it would look really cute on some altered notebooks or tins-don't you? Thanks for the idea:)

I agree -- I would have never thought of using the tracing wheel -- I'll have to get one of those and try it out -

It on sale for 25 now at Walmart!
I have a 20 yr. old Viking sewing Machine. Any type of sewing machine should work to sew on paper. You just need a sharp needle. My daughter has a small craft sewing machine. I don't remeber the brand. She likes it because it is easy to transport.
I have quilted fabric squares and then attatched them to my cards. They can be found on Flickr, under glograbear.I have sewn buttons on the sq.'s before attaching
I just use my regular standard sewing machine. I just change out the needs for each project that I am working on
whether it'll be card making or sewing. I wasn't able to use the small craft sewing machine, too little.

Good luck with your sewing!
