You know those lovely sunburst cards? Well, I kept wanting to make one, but my lazy bones kicked in. Then I thought 'Why not make a template for the pieces to make it easier. So, here it is...
...a template to make sunbursts for square cards or A2 size cards (I left room for a little trimming). It's so easy to use digital papers to fill the sunburst with pattern and print it out just once.Or you could use it to trace your patterned paper scraps and make a non-digital card (just put the template on a light box or window, lay your paper over it & trace the lines with pencil).
These files are PNGs so you can use them as overlays to drag and drop onto digital papers or fill in the sections one at a time (they have a transparent background).
Attached here:
1. printable square sunburst (the coloured one above).
2. printable A2 sized sunburst
3. square black overlay or sunburst template (6x6" on a standard 8.5 x 11" canvas)
There are more (a black A2 size overlay and both sizes in white) here on my blog: Mel Stampz: The Sweetest Day! (a new stamp artist, a give away & sunburst freebies)
Hope you can have some fun with these!

Permalink Reply by Anne Temple on July 25, 2012 at 9:26am Thanks! This will make starbursts much easier to create.
How fun! I have been wanting to do this for ages, and use up a lot of my scraps from other projects. Thanks so much for the templates.
One question: how do I save the files as pngs? Do I need to have special software on my computer?
Permalink Reply by Mel M. M. McCarthy on July 25, 2012 at 1:23pm Hi Nancy,
Sorry, force of habit with the PNGs. Usually they will print with the standard software on most computers, but if you want to edit them (like fill the blank sections in with digital patterned papers) you can do that with Photoshop if you have it (tutorial here on my blog) or you can do that with gimp a software that is like Photoshop but is free here: http://www.gimp.org/
If you would just like to print some JPEGs I'll add them here, hope they work and thanks for liking them!

these are fantastic, Mel! thank you so much!
I can print the black & white ones over several patterned papers to create quite a few different bg cards! :)
Such a lovely card! Thanks so much for the pattern :)

I just figured out that I can add more files in the comments so here is the blank A2 size in black and the white ones. If you want to see an example of how the white overlays work, please see my blog post with them here.
Have always wanted to do a starburst this will make it easier, Thanks Mel

Permalink Reply by Cheri Graves on August 7, 2012 at 12:57pm I used your sketch and figured out each piece used a 30 degree angle then used my Creative Memories straight edge trimmer to cut each piece by lining up the 30 deg. line. I'm going to miss that cutter when the blade gets too dull since they've discontinued making that cutter and the replacement blades.
