Does anyone know where to look for vintage stamps? And do stamps have a lifespan?

How vintage are you talking? There are some companies (PSX comes to mind) that are out of business that are highly sought after and the prices can get up into the $50-$60 dollar each range on e-bay. My personal experience is that rubber will dry out and crack. I was able to revive one that was starting down that road with a cleaner that also conditioned them. I'm sure that there must be someone else with more expertise than what I have.
Robyn,

PSX, are you referring to Embossing Arts outside of Corvalis, OR? When I lived in NV we would drive up there every year and I'd buy, buy, buy. I just used an old PSX stamp on a card the other day. I have some stamps that are almost 20 years old and I still use them with no problems.
Hi, we have a stamp line called Clear Art Stamps and we use old vintage images but it sounds like you are looking for old stamps? I've bought old wood carved images and brass stamp sets from old print shops but they are harder to use. I found that a brayer with bottled ink worked best to get a good dark image but I also found an old rubber alphabet set at a flea market and Robyn is right the rubber was old and chipped in spots.
You can see all our stamps on www.clearartstamps.com if you are interested and we are madly working on some really cool new vintage theme sets! what type of images are you looking for?
to me rubber last a long time and no you might get on line to fine the vintage stamps you would like you might go to gooigle and put in the vintage stamps in there and see what comes up sorry i wasnt much help.....Mary R
I have vintage alphabets bought at auction and they haven't dried or cracked. My grandaughter uses them on cards. They are definately antiques.
I LOVE your clear art stamps. I'm looking for one on line that is in the latest issue of Take ten. It is a tree with a bee which apparently the Shop at Somerset is supposed to have but I couldn't find it anywhere on the site.
Have you tried crafty secrets? They have amazing vintage stamps! Don't know about the lifespan of a stamp.

If you are looking to collect vintage stamps for collection or display purposes I have picked up some very cool old stamps on ebay. One is carved out of wood (used to pattern fabric) and several are metal (more for print work). I would check ebay from time to time. The metal stamps are easier to come by. The wood one I picked up in Woodstock, NY (where the concert was) several years ago.
