Keep your craft supplies organized. Purchase clear plastic stackable storage bins and invest in a labler. Group like items together. Tape samples on the outside of containers for easy identification.
When using small metal parts, such as metal beads or straight pins, keep a magnet handy in case of spills.
Store unmounted rubber stamps by placing them on a transparency which can be placed in a page protector within a binder.
If you are a quilter, make an extra block for each quilt you make and eventually put together a memory quilt using all the blocks you have saved. Its a great way to remember all your quilts, even after they have sold or been given away.
You can smooth cut paper edges with an emory board or manicure block
Place a small dab of paint on the lid of your craft paint bottles to make accurate identification easier. Store bottles that are nearly empty, upside down so the paint will readily pour at next use.
Keep a container of cool water handy when working with hot glue or melted wax for quick dip in case you get burned. Always keep a fire extinguisher handy when working near an open flame.
Use clothes pins as miniature clamps when gluing small projects. Protect soft materials from damage by placing a thickness of cloth on the project before clamping.
When I paint something and I don't quite like the result....I antique it....LOL
It usually hides any 'flaws' that I see.....you know how us artists are, we see things others can't.
Crystal that is so true you know artists are our own worst critics I never like anything I do I am just glad others do or it would all go in the trash...lol
Keep blank index cards handy when ever you are experimenting with new designs or recipes. Take notes as you go so you will remember your new ideas later.
I always keep a small writing tablet in my purse not olnly for jootting things down but for when inspiration hits me..like when I go to the antique store..i can save my ideas for a time when I can make them come true..and it is always fun to read back thru for inspiration too.
