Paper Craft Planet

Paper Crafting, Rubber Stamping, Scrapbooking, and more

This is a project I did a while back that was a lot like some of the other tutorials on the site. I decided to share it anyway just in case there is something to it that strikes your creative fancy.

I had stepped out the project with photos but my memory card bit the dust, so I'll talk you through it. It's REALLY simple (like make-ten-for-christmas simple) so I think you'll be fine.

Supplies:

Plain wood Frame (mine was a dollar from Michaels)
Paint. I used sparkly EXTREME GLITTER by plaid. Love it!
Playground Sand (not pictured)
Stamps: Hula Girl, Hawaiian Girl and Tiki Party
Alene's Tacky Glue ( or any white glue)
Spray Varnish: I'm completely obsessed with glitter spray varnish but clear spray varnish works just as well.
Dimensional Tape/Dots

Directions:

1. Paint your frame teal. Let dry completely.
2. Draw your horizon (ground meets sky) line with glue and then fill in the area below the horizon line with a nice thick layer of glue.
3. Sprinkle glued area with playground sand and press the sand into the glue. Tap the sand off the frame and check for bare spots. If needed, add more glue and more sand.
4. Let dry completely.
5. Spray with a coat or three of varnish. Let dry (this is the recurring theme for this project)
6. While waiting for things to dry, stamp your images on bristol board or your preferred heavier weight paper. Color and embellish. I added glossy accents to the ukulele. Cut them out and if desired, run a black marker around the cut edge to hide the white bits.
7. Add dimensional tape to the elements you want to pop up.
8. Arrange your items in a pleasing way and attach to frame.
9. Admire your handy work

Here's a close up of the sand, glitter varnish, glossy accents etc.

Thanks.

Let me know if you have any questions and please post your projects so I can see what you make :-)
