WEEK 1: CHRISTMAS/HOLIDAY CARDS
For many years, I have sent Christmas cards and for the majority of people on my list, I hand craft my cards that amount to about 75 in all. By starting now, this project is very doable! A sub-story to this week’s series is I have a friend who, for years, has mailed her handmade cards the day after Thanksgiving! I want to be that person this year!!!!
If I breakdown my card list first, I have categories including close family, stamping friends, general friends of my husband and I, and employees. This helps me in designing my cards as close family will receive fussy cards and as I work down my list, the cards get less fussy while still being stylish.
Today, I began with one main CAS card design using an A muse stamp set. I stamped the Santa suit onto the white cardstock and stamped a second suit onto a scrap piece of white cardstock. The 2nd piece was colored with Copic marker and glittered with Quickie Glue Pen and a very fine glitter. Once cut out, it is mounted onto the card with foam tape to raise it.
I quickly took the same design and embellished the card into 3 other versions. I will work on yet other versions and add them to this week’s lesson so you can see how easy it is to make several cards in just a short amount of time!
With all that said, you might want to get your address list in order and your envelopes in order now. I keep mine on my computer and just run printed labels.
So, your ‘assignment’ this week is to figure out what stamps you want to use and design a CAS card and post it here in the comment section. Print out your address list (or start handwriting your addresses). Make sure you have enough envelopes! Tell us what you plan to do this week!!!
Same card but mounted onto a pattern paper.
Added a solid red cardstock for the card base, baker's twine and a little tag. The Santa hat is raised up with foam tape.
A Sizzix scallop diecut gives the card a little more style! I'm on a roll with this simple little design and can't wait to show you some other ideas!
In the meantime, think about creating cards in an assembly style by stamping everything first like I have shown below. I can take this sheet with me and color anywhere! Cutting can be done while watching TV or waiting for dinner to cook!!!
