Can you believe it’s already March?? This year is zooming by! The beginning of a new month also means a new challenge for KL Scrappin’ N Stampin’ Girls. Since it’s my turn to host and I’m one of those ‘technique wannabes’, this month’s challenge will be a technique challenge. If you aren’t a technqiue junkie, don’t stress -- it’s an easy technique. Plus, it’s perfect for Magnolias! Here’s the details:
Challenge: Paper Piecing! Here’s a sample; if you look closely, you’ll see that I paper pieced Tilda’s overalls, shoes, and bench:
This card features the brand new Basic Grey DP ‘Porcelain’ which is now available for preorder at KL Scrappin’ N Stampin.
How to do paper piecing: Just in case this is your first try at paper piecing, here are some quick instructions. Stamp your initial image on white cardstock and then stamp clothing or any part of the image you choose to paper piece on Designer Paper. Cut out desired area, adhere to white image (it’s easiest if other areas are already colored) and voila -- you now have mastered the paper pieced technique!
For more fun examples of paper piecing, be sure to check out the KLSNS Design Team Blog.
Rules: Upload your card featuring paper piecing to the PaperCrafts Planet gallery by March 31, 2009. Be sure to use the code word KLSNS03 and post a comment on this thread so we can all admire your work.
Prizes: of course!! Our very generous KLSNS Kelly is awarding a 6” x 6” pack of Basic Grey Designer Paper and a Magnolia stamp (mystery stamp, but who doesn’t like a surprise?) on April 1st and I’m not fooling!
Aaaaahhhhh, this looks TERRIFIC! I love all the colors in your card, so soft and pretty!! I am a little jealous that you were able to get the porcelain so soon. Guess I should go to CHA next year so I can get my goodies earlier for the store!! :) Kel
Hope we all are able to find some time to playyyyy!
Thanks, Jessica. I thought they were kinda cool myself. I wonder how it would be if we could make our own wardrobes out of some of the awesome DP designs. LOL
Oooh, wouldn't that be fun? Most of my Tildas are a little more brave in the fashion department than I am, but maybe if I had access to Basic Grey-inspired outfits....
