Paper Craft Planet

Paper Crafting, Rubber Stamping, Scrapbooking, and more

Can you believe it’s already March?? This year is zooming by! The beginning of a new month also means a new challenge for KL Scrappin’ N Stampin’ Girls. Since it’s my turn to host and I’m one of those ‘technique wannabes’, this month’s challenge will be a technique challenge. If you aren’t a technqiue junkie, don’t stress -- it’s an easy technique. Plus, it’s perfect for Magnolias! Here’s the details:

Challenge: Paper Piecing! Here’s a sample; if you look closely, you’ll see that I paper pieced Tilda’s overalls, shoes, and bench:

This card features the brand new Basic Grey DP ‘Porcelain’ which is now available for preorder at KL Scrappin’ N Stampin.

How to do paper piecing: Just in case this is your first try at paper piecing, here are some quick instructions. Stamp your initial image on white cardstock and then stamp clothing or any part of the image you choose to paper piece on Designer Paper. Cut out desired area, adhere to white image (it’s easiest if other areas are already colored) and voila -- you now have mastered the paper pieced technique!

For more fun examples of paper piecing, be sure to check out the KLSNS Design Team Blog.

Rules: Upload your card featuring paper piecing to the PaperCrafts Planet gallery by March 31, 2009. Be sure to use the code word KLSNS03 and post a comment on this thread so we can all admire your work.

Prizes: of course!! Our very generous KLSNS Kelly is awarding a 6” x 6” pack of Basic Grey Designer Paper and a Magnolia stamp (mystery stamp, but who doesn’t like a surprise?) on April 1st and I’m not fooling!

So who wants to play??

Ahhh, how lovely!!! Great colors ,and I love the little lamb's pink cheeks too. Hugs, Kel
WOWZERS Carolyn!! This is so awesome...LOVE those cute flowers, your paper piecing, the COLORS, pearls and ribbon--it's all very lovely! ☺
Oh my goodness is this Tilda adorable in her gingham dress! Great paper piecing, Carolyn. I have to remember to try this technique with gingham!!
My goodness, she is SO pretty in lavendar and green. That gingham is perfect!! Two of my favorite colors. I didn't expect you to come up with a card today, but I am SO glad you did. I hope it was a bit therapeutic for you too. Safe travels to you, and Hugs, dear friend!! Kelly :)
Although the design team did an AWESOME JOB with the paper piecing technique, all the layers, and the added embellishment and extras -- LOVELY cards, ladies all around!! I did not include the DT cards, and it is still SO difficult still for me to choose a winner in only a small group of ladies. I am going to ask the DT to let me know which one of you ladies creations they love the best by email, and I will get back to you all later on today (04/01).

Thanks for playing along with the challenge. Hope we can attract some more players next month, too. :) Kelly
Fabulous job ladies. ALL of the creations are awesome.
Ahhh, these are all so great that I am torn!! Okay, but a girl has to choose, right?!

The winner of the March challenge is . . . Karen Witter!

:D Yaaaaay! Congratulations, Karen!!

I loved the coloring and the layers you chose. Your paper piecing was beautiful, and those cute little paper buttons, too sweet!

Marcia, I loved your embellishments, and the paper pieced clothes.

Tonya had adorable paper pieced scarf, hat, mittens and socks!!

Laura Jean -- I love the Bella Rose DP, which caught my eye, but then the plaid pulled me in too. Her outfit looked very swedish to me, although I have never been there like our gal, Jessica. :)

And T. Joy, your simple layer on your scrapbook page really WOW'ed me with color, and made you feel so drawn into the photo.

I wish I could give you ALL a prize, but I have so many challenges going on right now. Don't forget to check out the cuttlebug challenge hosted by Heidi for April, and if you would like a font set, check out the KL SNS blog, too for details on how to get your own Julius font set for FREE! :) Hugs, Kelly
Congratulations Karen! >:0)
Oh my gosh, I just checked this and I'm so excited. I loved this challenge and had so much fun "dressing" Tilda. Thank you so much! Each of the cards were so cute! Wish more people could have played. I really did enjoy it and again, thank you bunches! I'm up for the next challenge and I'll get to it as soon as I can.
Big Hugs,
Karen, I believe I have your address from a previous order, but I don't want to send you something you already have. So I will be in touch with you soon. :) Kelly
