Paper Craft Planet

Paper Crafting, Rubber Stamping, Scrapbooking, and more

December means that we are now turning to our own holiday preparations and I thought it wise to not have partner lists for the simple reason that we are all too darn busy!

However, to keep the spirit of our RAK Group going for the month, I thought of a couple of things we as individuals can do that may be of interest to you.  I've posted a few sites that are always looking for hand crafted cards for worthy causes.  I would love to add to this list and if you know of other similar organizations, just post a comment and I'll revise the list here.

Secondly, as most of you know, Amy Samuelson just had a baby boy and you could send her a card for this occasion.  Send me a message to request her mailing address if you don't already have it.

Sending cards to people that might not get one.I like the idea we all are so blessed.
A few days ago I signed up for Angel card project, waiting on information on where to send cards.
Sandra that's great! On their site it says that Mark takes awhile to respond, but he will. I did send a second email just to let him know we're all keen on this idea!
The e-mail I recieved from Mark said I would here around the 8th of Dec.
When did you first contact him?
earlier part of last week.
Just added another organization to our list and I found it right here on PCP! It is called Card Cupids and they are an organization who collect and send a bundle of cards with words of encouragement to needy children for their birthday or in a time of need along with a cuddly card package that includes a stuffed animal. They help to make sure that each needy child’s birthday is celebrated and that children in the hospital receive well wishes.
Well this is a lovely idea - I thought that I may have been able to do something a little more locally (not that I have any adversion to sending overseas) as it would be nice to be charitable a little closer to home. All these organisations are great but the children always pull at you heart strings, especially when they are so ill. So I am on a bit of a quest to see if I can find anything simular here first.
Karen - Keep us posted with your findings!
I just updated our card list and added the American Red Cross address. As you see, they are only accepting holiday cards through December 27th.
Just a couple of idea's~~~ For those of you wishing to do something on a more local level.........

Contact you local school's, church's, food pantries, ect. and see if there are folks out there who could use a little cheering up this time of year. Many of these places give out things to needy families. Why not see if a handmade card could be included to add a personal touch?

I know that a couple of our local food pantries makes & gives out Birthday Cakes to children for their birthday's. Perhaps you could see if this is something that's done in your area. Make up a few birthday card's and donate them for the families to have at least a card to give to their child on their birthday.

Also, don't forget about the local elder's in your nursing home's & Senior Center's. Many of these folks do not have family around. Perhaps you & your family could "adopt" a grandparent and share your handmade treasure's.

Hugs~

Thank you so much for posting about Card Cupids! The children and families that have received cards so far absolutely love them and tell us how much they brighten their day.

Ladies!  I am thrilled and humbled by the generosity and love of this group!  I joined this group a couple months ago and have had a wonderful time sending and creating cards and RAK's with you.  It's been a difficult month for me.  I started it with a kidney infection, then Thanksgiving, onto my beloved dog getting hit by a car and now am suffering pneumonia.  It's been a rough one to say the least.  But.................I have received a card and/or package in the mail almost every day this month.  The feeling of love and just knowing someone is out there and thought of me is overwhelming.  I haven't been the best about sending birthday cards out myself, but that will definitely change after experiencing the love and generosity of this group.  You are truly God's Angels.
