Pull Treat Card

I've had several requests on how to do the Pull-Treat card seen here that I uploaded last week, so here is a tutorial! For this tutorial, I chose to use a Hershey bar, but below I'll also show you how I made one using a pack of gum. I started out by measuring my Hershey bar. The bar measures approximately 2 1/4" wide, by 6 1/4" long, so I added a little bit to these measurements to make the flat tube for the card. My cardstock was cut 7" long, and 6" wide. That width will make the tube 2 3/4" wide, with a 1/2" leftover for adhering in the back. On the Scor-Pal I scored the cardstock on the 6" side at 2".

Then I flipped the cardstock side-to-side and scored at 1 1/4". (I lined the edge of the cardstock up at the 3" measurement, and scored at 4 1/4" on the Scor-Pal)

Your flat tube should now look like this.

Use red-line, or any good sticky tape along one edge to secure the tube.

I made another smaller tube with a scalloped border to decorate the tube. Just make it 6" wide like your original tube, and score in the same places. Mine fits so snugly I didn't even have to adhere it.

Punch a hole through both layers at one end of your tube.

Thread a ribbon through the holes. Make sure the ribbon is as long as the card, plus enough slack to tie a knot or a bow at the top!

Slide your "treat" into the tube so that the ribbon catches across the bottom and slides down through the tube with your treat. Here's how it should look if you pushed it all the way through the other end.

Tie a knot or a bow at the top, where you punched the holes. Now, whenever you pull on the knot (don't untie it!) the treat will slide out of the card! Finish your card as desired!

You can do this with anything. Here it is again, using a pack of Stride gum! This time I measured my gum (2" x 3 1/4") and cut my cardstock 4" x 6". This allowed me to add 3'8" to each side on the width to accomodate the pack of gum, plus 1" extra for adhereing in the back. This time I used my mini Scor-Pal for scoring. Along the 6" side, I scored at 1 5/8" and 2".

From the other side, I scored at 1 3/8" and at 1 3/4".

Add sticky tape to one edge, and fold up your box.

Punch a hole through both layers on one end, and thread a ribbon through.

Insert the gum treat, and tie a bow.

When you pull on the bow, the gum will slide out!

Embellish as desired. On the second half of this post, you can see a gum pull-treat card I made back in September! Don't hesitate to send me a message or email if you have any questions! I'm sure some of my directions are as clear as mud!
