Stampendous, made this lovely image that I have heat-embossed, 3-D layered, hand painted, stickled, and used glossy accents for sparkle and shine. Akll this is needed is a BEACH!

Teehee! I'm waiting for my "assistant" Peggy to recover from her long road trip, but I have a Challenge blog and DT call in the works! We will be doing exactly this type of thing. And I'd like to offer both a random number prize and a winner who is voted in -- so beginners always have a chance, but the "best" cardmakers also get special recognition.

When I first started out, Etsy was taking HUGE chunks of money from me. I paid over $300 to them in my first month just listing images (It costs 20 cents per item -- so if I wanted to list one illustration 5x it was already a dollar -- which is a huge percentage for such low cost items!) I'm still paying PayPal per transaction, but my brother put the new store together for me with an open source -- free-- site program (Joomla) and an open source store plugin (virtuemart.) It doesn't run smooth as silk, but I can't afford a "real" store now and I think this mainly gets the job done.
If I hadn't had my brother volunteer to help me with the store, I was planning to get the buttons from PayPal to put directly on my blog. Have you thought of that?

You guys need to stick together and not undervalue your work too -- I saw beautiful handmade cards by one cafter selling for $2.50 US recently and I thought it was a terrible shame. After Peggy Marsh sent me some of her cards, and Michelle Seward sent me a few of hers I've finally seen what these look like in real life and they are ART.
On a similar note, on Card Universe last week one of the digital art companies made a "big announcement" and lowered their prices to $1 per digi "permanently". I had just been having a discussion on SCS with some women who kept calling digital art "just clipart by another name." Ugh! Now they are propagating that idea just by selling so low!

Hey, by the way my mom just called me back and she LOOOOOVES the kitty!!
Do you sell card frequently on Ebay? I was thinking of making a link from my blog to a list of ebay/etsy stores that sell handmade cards. My mom (and my Aunt who saw some for the first time yesterday) both said they'll never buy store-made cards again, LOL. I thought it would be nice to have links to crafters who sell them.
Hi Denise! I just checked my page after like forever and found your comment from back in April.. I am so way behind can you tell :)
Let me know what Penny blacks you would like and I'd gladly send you a bunch of images :)
Hi denise, The card with the frogs was for the CDS color challenge that I am in charge of hosting once a mth. I'm glad you liked it. I was the host so no, I didn't win.LOL! If you want to check my blog you can see the one's I chose as the "winners", and other pics of my card. It's fun to host but hard to choose so I put links to all of the participant's blogs with thier cards.Thank you for commenting on my cards, you know nothing makes you feel better than to be complimented by one of your respected peers! :) Big, huge congrats on winning that contest! I can't wait to see your winning card. Is it one of the two you just loaded? I'll go check!
Yup Denise, you definitely need to get you a blog, then you can stay up all night like me going from one place to another, then forgetting what you were looking for!!
