I bought a set of Le Pleumme markers, but didn't notice that they were a "bright color" set. :( i think i was overwhelemed with the choice of markers to color that day. Either way, I was trying to…Continue

i like the 6x6 pads, and there are TONS of yummy varieties, but sometimes i end up making a card that's bigger, and 6x6 doesn't cut it, so i have to improvise. do you have your cards photographed and uploaded somewhere? i'd love to see!
I would like to invite you to join Phindy's Place. We are a great group of crafting ladies, I think you will like the chat, the challenges and the images we work with. Come take a look http://www.papercraftplanet.com/group/phindysplace. I hope to see you there!

tools, however... my essentials are my guillotine trimmer, paper piercer, edge distresser, and i LOVE my watercolour pencils and blender pen. plus whatever adhesives you prefer (pop-dots and the Zig two-way pens are my faves, but i love K&Co. glue for the more porous paper or ribbon). i also have the Fiskars shape cutter and some of the stencils, for when i want an oval or circle framing my image or sentiment. they're a cheaper alternative to investing in a die-cutter and dies, and they work just fine!
as for inks, StazOn is my go-to for stamping any images i might want to colour or embellish with stickles and such. Ranger Distress inks are great for edging, and, well, distressing, and Memento's Brilliance DewDrop inks are my favourites for the colour selection and how JUICY they are without being drippy or messy.
if you use clear stamps, i don't recommend the Ranger inks, but the others work great!
i have to say though, i'm NOT the person to ask about measuring cardstock for a card... i grab an envelope that coordinates with the cardstock i'm using, and i fold the paper and chop it with my trimmer. i don't measure ANYTHING, whatsoever, and some crafters would probably groan at that idea! :) well i buy envelopes in so many different sizes, and sometimes in bulk, so i just match them up as best i can. and sometimes i have to cut the card smaller in order to accommodate an embellishment that sticks out or goes above the top of the card. i'm really a free-thinking kinda gal when it comes to my craftin'!
i've been a card maker for about two years (the first of which my efforts were QUITE awful, if i do say so myself!). blogging totally jump started my mojo and inspired me to no end!
my favourite part of this craft is doing the unexpected, ESPECIALLY with colour! combinations that nobody would otherwise expect, you know?
how about you? what are your favourite techniques, and what's your thought process like? what's your biggest struggle?
Visit the group, take some freebies (see discussions) and play with us on our weekly challenges! and of course, leave a comment there to introduce you ;)
New things are coming up... stay tuned! :)
