Paper Crafting, Rubber Stamping, Scrapbooking, and more

Yes, this is an easy project!  Let me tell you how I did it. But first, let me announce the winner from Lyn Bernatovich's wonderful Valentine tutorial. And...the Dreamweaver Thistle stencil goes to Ruth Wright! Congrats, Ruth! Please email Pam at phornschu@yahoo.com with your address info. For the rest of you, remember...CLICK HERE TO ENTER TO WIN YOUR OWN DREAMWEAVER STENCIL! Now, here's the info on my tweet birdhouse!
1)  Use the Tim Holtz Distress Paint to paint the base, perch, corners , and edges of the birdhouse.  You do not need to paint the whole thing.
2)  You will need a paintbrush to get into the inner corners and under the eaves.
3)  Use scissors to cut the metal to the size of the outer edges on the stencils.  You will need two pieces of each size.
4)  Run the metal through the die cut machine with the stencils to emboss.  Emboss two of each stencil.  You will need the rubber embossing mat.  I have a Cuttlebug, and the sandwich is this:  A Plate, stencil face down, metal copper down, rubber embossing mat, and two B Plates.   The rubber mat that I recommend is thicker than the tan Spellbinders Mat which requires shims.
5)  Use the alcohol ink applicator to apply Color Solutions.  I used three drops of Thistle and Pine Bough and one drop of Darkest Brown for each time I refilled the pad.  Just put the color on and tap the pad on the metal.  Use two or three layers.  Color all six pieces.
6)  Use the sandpaper to sand all of the metal and reveal the aluminum underneath.  The following picture shows the metal before and after sanding.
7)  Hold the Double Sided Mounting Paper in place over the sides and top of the birdhouse to determine the size to trim each piece.  Trim.  If it is a little too large, that is fine.
8)  Remove one side of the protective paper on mounting paper to reveal the adhesive.  Center the metal and place it on the adhesive. "Burnish" by pressing the larger flat areas into the adhesive.
9)  Trim the excess metal from the edges of the mounting paper.
10)  Remove the backing and adhere the metal to the birdhouse on all the sides except the front.
11)  Postion the metal across the front and use the craft knife to mark the location of the perch and the door opening.
12)  Use your Big Bite to punch holes on these markings.  (You can also use your craft knife on this, but it is easier to create a hole first).  Widen the perch hole with the craft knife if necessary.  It should fit easily and snugly over the perch.
13)  Cut slits all around the door opening hole.  Ideally, the slits will go just to the inside edge of the hole, but it is okay if they are a little short.
14)  Remove the backing paper and attach the metal to the front.  Run the handle of the craft knife or scissors around the inside of the door hole to make the metal around the circle lay flat.
15)  Press the metal all the way around the birdhouse to make a better bond.  Pay special attention to the edges and corners.
16)  Use a craft knife to trim off any excess metal that overlaps the edges and corners.
That's it!  I told you it was easy!
