Paper Crafting, Rubber Stamping, Scrapbooking, and more

Want to make a stunning impact on your projects, and add interesting texture…..with not a lot of effort? Of course you do!!  Have you ever tried embossing and sanding your card stock?  It’s easy!  This quick tutorial will show you how to achieve this look.

I used both the Core’dinations sanding block set and their Black Magic card stock for this.  Any card stock that has a white core (or a core that is any other color) will work, as that is what provides the contrast.  You also do not have to use this specific sanding block set, or any sanding block at all – I’ve done this with plain old fine grit sandpaper from the home improvement store, and even once with a nail file.

After running my piece of card stock through an embossing machine,  I got an effect like this.  You can see some spot where the orange colored core is already showing through.

Place your sanding block (or paper, or whatever you are using) face down on your card stock (with the raised pattern up) and gently rub across it.  You may need to apply more pressure, but it is better to start soft!

Keep sanding until you reveal as much of the core as you want to see.  You will need to dust off your card stock panel (that’s why I like this Core’dinations kit – it comes with a great cloth to collect the dust) before you use it!

This is a really fun and easy way to add interest and an unexpected element to your card!  If you’ve never tried it, I hope you will soon!
